Alchemy Leather Maskby *merimask

This isn't a very big or a very fancy design, but I'm proud of it anyway because it was a real departure for me. It's a black & dark burgundy mask full of alchemic symbols, with a central Celtic knot. A special commission from my Etsy shop, and I'm happy to say that the person who commissioned it really seems to be thrilled with the finished product.

I picked the alchemic symbols for no other reason than that they were aesthetically pleasing (I found myself selecting the ones with an organic feel to them).

Like all my masks, this is made from 8oz tooling leather, carved by hand, shaped by hand, heat-set and painted with Liquitex acrylics. I loved carving this one; the crisp clean lines of the symbols were a challenge but that's what made it fun.

I can definitely see some evil villain or his henchman wearing this right as they were about to perform some sort of ritual that would change the world.
