American Foxhound Leather Mask by merimask American Foxhound Leather Mask by merimask
I was commissioned to do a pair of masks for a hunt-themed masquerade. This guy wanted a foxhound mask for himself and a red fox for his wife. He placed the order on Friday. He was supposed to be much further along on my "to do" list, but I got sucked in by all the cute foxhound pictures & started researching right away. American Foxhounds are SO CUTE.

Before I knew it, his hound mask turned into my weekend project. I did not one but TWO of them, because I couldn't decide which color version I liked better.

This is Foxhound #1...light brown and white. Check out my group :iconleathermaskart: for a picture of it with the fox.

This mask was commissioned at my Etsy shop: [link]

Oh man, I absolutely LOVE the ears- and I will catch your kiriban, I was so disappointed last time because I got the number right after that. >:[

Hilariously, if I'd had time to organize it I was planning on doing a 55,555 kiriban. I ended up getting it myself. What do I win?

They really are. :-) There's absolutely no way to make a fierce-looking hound dog mask, I've decided. You just have to resign yourself to being cute when you wear it.

I would have to suppose that even growling would just lead to "awww, such a fierce little puppy!" ;P

It might even get you bopped on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper & laughed at. ;-)

Hee! Foxhounds have great ears...I don't ever end up owning floppy-eared hound dogs but I do think they're cute.

So cute! I can't imagine how much patience it must take to do all that fur detail :O and those ears!

This is also made more adorable by the fact that I actually own an American Foxhound(mix) :D [link] She's a great dog, but boy does she have an unlimited ammount of energy! :XD:

Aww...she's a cutie! I've never had a hound but I think they're such a cute bunch. I have a husky right now (who is also a very busy guy) but I have heard that hounds can be a handfull too. :-)

Thank you! That means I made it realistic enough to fool people. ;-)

Actually, I think with slightly larger, longer ears it'd make a pretty good Beagle design too.
