This is the dragon mask that's been occupying all my time lately. A brand new pattern & new design...I'm calling it the Ancient Dragon, because it looks old and wise.
It was inspired by this dragon... [link] I saw it while in Ueno Park in Japan last September. It was just a small dragon perched on a rock; part of a purification fountain at an unassuming Shinto temple. He charmed me though, p-artially due to the color and the age of the fountain, and partly because he looked so beautiful with his laid back scales and frills. I knew I'd been inspired.
So, this one has been in progress since September, in the sense that it's been in the back of my head, knirping for attention. Still not quite done though...I want to try one more permutation of this design before I'm able to put it away.
This is made of a few pieces of hand carved, hand shaped leather. My own unique technique! You can purchase my masks here: [link]
Ooh, I love all your masks but this one is my fave. Just one thing though, what do you actully make your masks out of? Ps I've never actully had a real mask before so this might seem like a stupid question...
hey there, so i'm absolutely in love with your masks. They've been inspiration to me in my clay work and drawing so much so that i got the blue wolf mask you made as a tattoo. It looks beautiful, and i was wondering if you could send me a picture of your ancient dragon mask, the green one. I'd really like to get it as my next tattoo and a picture of it from the front, so it's symmetrical, would be perfect. let me know if you see this message please i'd appreciate it so much.
I've never seen a mask give so much emotions. and what I mean is you can't help to respect the wisdom apparent of the ancient dragon.... and I don't think I said it so well either.... lol
Ps I've never actully had a real mask before so this might seem like a stupid question...
