Autumn Spriggan mask by merimask Autumn Spriggan mask by merimask
This is a very special mask design that I've never shared before. It was created a few years ago for the great Franco Dragone, for consideration in one of his shows. Also it was sort of a gift...I do that from time to time, & Franco always leaves me a bit starstruck.

It's ALL one piece...just one piece of leather, hand carved & shaped with no molds or forms. Dyed with a brown alcohol-based dye, painted with Liqitex acrylics, washed with black antiquing medium, wiped & then sealed with about a gallon of clear coat acrylic sealers.

This is a very ambitious piece...I still have the pattern but I haven't made any since I did this one (plus a summer version).

A Spriggan is a malevolent forest sprite, associated with trees and mayhem. They are NOT friendly.

Colouring looks nice! And those curves like it is real wood are nice too!

Thank you...it's rather different from most of my work (scarier) but I had fun making it.

:-) I have to admit this design was no fun at all to sculpt...too much could have gone wrong!

Carving the bark was actualy the easiest part of making this mask...the shaping was the scary part! :-)
