Black And Bronze Kitsune Mask by merimask Black And Bronze Kitsune Mask by merimask
Here's a new kitsune mask. Old design, new colors. I love bronze on black so that's what I did.

As ever, made from hand carved leather with no molds, stamps or forms used. Painted with Liquitex acrylics.

This mask is available right now in my Etsy shop: [link]

This is stunningly gorgeous. I'm blown away by the detail and beauty. It also has a nice, Egyptian-ish feel to it. <3

I finally found a local supplier of Liquitex paints...I'm just wondering if you prep your leather prior to painting and what you do after painting. Do you use a sealer of any kind?

Awesome piece of carving, and the paint is absolutely flawless. You have an eye for detail and masterful skills.

The acrylics work best over untreated leather. Just don't apply them before you heat-set the mask 'cause they'll melt!

After, I use an acrylic spray sealer like Kelly's or Tandy's Super Sheen.

Oh what a gorgeous color combination! What hue of black is that? I love how bluish and shiny it is. I always did like this elegant design.

It's a nice smooth-grained jet black. It's actually Cova Colors (Eco-flow I think it's been renamed now) from Tandy...the only acrylic color I'll use rather than Liquitex because it's just so delicate & shiny-smooth.

Aah I have a Midnight Black Eco-Flow dye, but I really must keep an eye out for Jet Black! Midnight's nice, but more on the warm side. I just love that bluish shine to the Jet Black!
