Black Bear Leather Mask by merimask Black Bear Leather Mask by merimask
Here is a frequently requested, brand new design; a North American Black Bear mask.

Like all my masks, this is made from 8oz leather, hand carved and hand shaped with no molds, stamps or forms. I took great care to carve every hair, because I wanted this mask to be as realistic as possible. It's painted with a combination of acrylic stains and colorfast Liquitex acrylic paints; black with red/brown markings in a semi-transparent stain, and sealed with a clear coat for durability.

Available (until he is gone!) only in my online shop, here: [link]

I like your naturalistic masks. :) You put a lot of work into making them true to the source, and that really shows.

I can bearly find the words to describe how cool that is. ;) I do really like the wrinkle lines around the bridge and tip of the nose, though.

Beautiful bear! :) Bold and simple, but definitely not hurting for details. It might sound weird, but I find the shaping of the forehead especially well-done.

Comments are enabled again?! Yay! I really love the bold simplicity of this. Lately I've been thinking of getting into leatherwork, myself, albeit more along the lines of shoes and dresses since I've become increasingly dissatisfied with the fashion industry. It's such a niche thing, though, and the materials are so hard to source for leather working. I have no idea how you managed to teach yourself how to do these things, it's pretty amazing! Do you have a bio or FAQ somewhere about how you got into this? Again, awesome work.
