This is a new color variation on my popular "Verdigris Lion" design...The Black Lion.

Like all my masks, this is hand carved from 8oz leather, shaped without a mold or form, & painted with a combination of Liquitex acrylic paint and alcohol-based dye in black, with pewter paint drybrushed atop. The slightly silver cast of the accenting paint really sets off the carving.

By the way, I LOVE the way the black mask photographed against the backdrop of Fall leaves on the lawn. I wish that I could preserve those leaves somehow because I'd love to photograph all my black masks against them.

Available right now in my Etsy shop: [link]

Thank you for making such beautiful masks! This was in particular was an inspiration for a mask worn by Loew, one of my super heroes. [link]

No problem. This is by far one of my favorite masks that you made. It is so sleek and elegant, while being plenty mysterious.

You could press a bunch in a really heavy book if you wanted to... just put wax paper between the pages and leaves and poof! You're done!

Beautiful work by the way!

Very subtle and elegant, yet bold in overall execution.

Take a picture of the leaves and print it out on a color printer to use as a backdrop?

Love the pewter. I think it makes the black really glow!
