The Black Rabbit of Inle' is a mythical character in the book "Watership Down". If you've never read the book, I suggest you do so...it's on the shelf next to "The Hobbit", in this house. The Black Rabbit is part of the rabbits' mythology/religion...it's sort of like the Grim Reaper for rabbits. They fear the Black Rabbit but also respect him, because he's a natural part of the cycle of life.
Basically, a rabbit of death. I took this mask commission very seriously.
The girl who commissioned it from my Etsy shop [link] wanted silver designs on it, similar to my popular Black & Silver Dragon mask, including the inlaid hematite stone. She said "No cute fluffy bunny!" and because I'd read the book, I knew what she meant. I went for a very stylized look, with a long narrow face and streamlined ears with almost tribal designs.
I think she's going to like it...I know I do. It's really a comfortable mask to wear, too. With a simple black outfit of some sort, she's going to look awesome. A proper rabbit harbinger of doom.
I'm happy 'cause I feel like I got it right. ^_^
Like all my masks: made from hand carved hand shaped leather. Painted with Liquitex acrylics. No molds or forms.
how much for one exactly the same but unpainted but still with patterns and what not.
