Black and White Persian Mask by merimask Black and White Persian Mask by merimask
This mask was commissioned on my Etsy site; a white, black, silver & pewter "Persian" leather mask. This is the companion mask to the other black& white-themed Persian mask in my previous entry.

It's called a Persian mask 'cause the pattern is based on my Persian rug. I usually do it in more traditional neutral tones like brown with gold & red (see elsewhere in my gallery for other examples) but this was a special request & I like the way it turned out.

Like all my work, this is hand-carved, hand shaped 8 oz leather, painted with Liquitex acrylic paints. I do take custom requests all the time at my Etsy shop: [link]

Will you ever restock these on the Etsy shop? I've been looking to buy this mask but could never find it on the site.

OOH, I think I finally found one of your masks that would make me drool. I love so many of them for their unusual designs and charm--but this one is so subtle and elegant...

So, when I saw the thumbnail for this in my message box, I went "ooh, want". Then I came over here and got a look at the full-size photograph.

Oooh, want.

The black and white patterns are very striking. I hope whoever commissioned this and the other one sends you pictures of the final costume.

Were these commissioned by the same person(s)? They'd make a pretty striking couple, I'm sure!

Yes! It's going to be a pretty stunning pair when you see them together.

My masks have so much more fun than I do...

LOL Aw... but they didn't get to go on Martha Stewart! (Well, most of them didn't.)

Yes! The monochromatic scheme seems to make the design elements stand out even more than my usual colors do.

Cool, black and white! I like this more than the 'coloured' version, actually...I find the design is even more striking like this. This looks like the male version and the whiter one looks like the female version :)

Thanks! That's what they are for; a his-n-hers set of masks for a formal "Black & White" Halloween masquerade ball. Doesn't that sound like fun?

Yeah, it does. :) (I'm totally in the mood to plan a party or ball right now. Not to GO to one, but I've been perusing the MSS site and all the crafts and stuff, getting photo ideas and home dec/organizing ideas and now I feel like making fancy cone favours and flower pom poms and ribbons of snowflakes and what kind of party has flowers and snowflakes at the same time anyway?)

THe Persian masks were always at the top of my list for faves but I don't really like earth tone combinations that much so this makes me like it even more. :)

I always thought it'd be SO much fun to be a party planner. There's a huge market for that you know! You do all the organizing & creative stuff & leave the mess for someone else...it seems ideal. :-)

Lol...I've always said it's 'so unfair' that you have to get married in order to have a wedding. I would have the COOLEST WEDDING EVER (not necessarily expensive, but VERY COOL ... or maybe very weird...hard to decide which is which) but it's not worth it if you have to keep the groom.

Now there is a stylin' piece of facewear, in my opinion; an excellent design, lots of detail, and outstandingly well painted.
