Copper Sun And Moon Mask by merimask Copper Sun And Moon Mask by merimask
So I just finished another sun and moon mask. This was a special custom order. The client did not want any gold, so she requested a copper sun.

It actually looks kind of cool, I think! The sun half is extra pretty, so I'm showing the picture that was taken from that angle. If you want a better look at the moon half, check out my gallery. It's in there.

As ever, made from one piece of hand carved, hand shaped 8oz veg-tanned tooling leather. Painted with Liquitex acrylics.

I take custom orders & special requests all the time at my Etsy shop: [link]

This is very lovely and would look so good on my wall. I collect sun/moon stuff and venetian masks. :D

It turned out great! I have to admit, I like the copper more then the gold one. It matches better with the silver I guess. The eyecorners are done great too! That's a great detail. And the 2 different types of copper are matching really good! I like it :D

This reminds me of the summer sunsets we see at the beach (the original is more like high noon, I think). Looks great!

I agree. *missing the sunsets on the Gulf, which leads to worrying about the Gulf...*

The copper works quite well! It gives a warmer feel and doesn't have as stark of a clash with the silver. Good call by the customer!

Sometimes the customer has a weird idea & I have a hard time making it work, & sometimes they make me try something that actually makes the mask cooler. This was option #2. :-)

Actually, I think the copper version works better than the regular gold one - the colours really work well together. :D

You know...I thinks so too actually. It contrasts better.

Very nice. I'm not all that fond of straight gold...gold as an accent is all well and good, but not as the primary feature, except in jewelry perhaps. The copper works very, very well as an alternative. I like it!

Thank you. :-) Yes, it ended up being more dynamic really. My gold is bright but awfully pale...this contrasts better with the moon.

I love the copper! And great choice with the ribbon colors. Gold has never been a wearable color because of my skin tone, so it's great to see other, similar colorations.

Thank you. :-) I think that's why she chose the copper, too. The gold was too yellowy & pale.

Thank you! :-) I wasn't too sure about the request for copper, but it turned out very pretty...like a setting sun perhaps.
