A new Draco Temporis mask...I really love making and customizing these dragons. They come out different every time, depending on the clock and goggle parts I use.
I did a simpler goggle-monocle on this guy this time, but added a really pretty brass clock hand to his snout (which I think gives him a bit of a Gothic flair).
Here are the pesky details:
"Draco Temporis"; dragon of time.
This is a hand carved leather dragon mask with one "monocle" eye, ready to wear to your next steampunk convention or masquerade. Perfect for Mardi Gras, Halloween, or just a night out at the club.
The mask is hand carved from one piece of 8oz leather, shaped with no mold or form by hand, painted black, rich antiqued brown and burnished gold with colorfast acrylics, and sealed with a clear acrylic for protection.
The monocle is half of a pair of retro-look lightweight PVC welding goggles (the right eye). It is custom-fitted to the mask (the hole behind it matches the shape of the opening) and secured with bright brass studs and fasteners. The cap may be unscrewed and the 50mm lens replaced. This mask comes with one medium green acrylic goggle lens.
The mask is also decorated with an assortment of real antique clockwork parts. Some care needs to be taken when handling, as the brass cogs can be sharp.
The mask is worn with a heavy-duty dark brown leather strap, attached with bright brass Chicago screws and adjustable to any head size with a dark brown oxidized brass buckle. The buckle has a keeper bar for excess strap, so the mask looks neat from front and back.
There is no precise pattern for this mask with these customizations, and it will never be repeated exactly. Signed, dated and numbered, this is " 'Draco Temporis' version 2"
