So here's the second attempt at my new "Dragon Skull" mask design. #2 has been inlaid with a deep purple goldstone cabochon, which I think goes better with the black horns.

Slight differences in shaping make this dragon skull even more menacing than the first...this guy is absolutely glowering.

Like all my masks, this is hand carved and hand shaped without molds or forms, from one piece of 8oz leather. It's been painted with colorfast Liquitex acrylics. Signed dated AND numbered original; this is "Dragon Skull #2".

Available right now in my Etsy shop; [link]

Menacing = Awesome!:D

Love this new skull dragon and also the bleached bone texture of it. That jewel is just a perfect touch for an enchanted dragon too.

Man oh man I hope you get fan photos of someone wearing this one! I would love to see it in action on the face.

Yes, I do hope for some photos of it being worn. Everyone likes it but no one has bought it yet...might end up being my newest "cool orphan" mask. :-/

Oh, I hope you don't mind asking, but what kind of tools or the main tools are used for crafting leather masks? I've been sculpting clay masks and i wanted to start creating lighter masks.

I'm just using some smooth bevelers in two sizes, a few texturing stamp tools, a mallet and most importantly a swivel knife or swivel blade. Google "Tandy leather company" and you can find all these things online. They often sell starter tooling kits, too.

If you look under the blue cat on my front page; links that are helpful.

Oh wow. I've been watching your masks for a while and I love your enchanted like style on masks, (the dragons, fishes and unicorns and of course Okami) but this one took the cake!! It's just so wonderful and dead like! Kudos to you!

I like the darker stone a little better than the green one, but I think they both work pretty well. I think the wider looking shape of this one compared to the previous one works better. Again, very cool. I think this is definitely one of your best designs ever.

Wow! This is incredible! Don't get me wrong I think all of your masks are amazing and if I could afford it I'd buy probably one of everything but wow! I just really love the colors that give it that texture look, and above the eyes where it makes it look mad =D The darker stone is a good choice!

Looking at the two next to each other, it looks like this one is the male and the green one the female. :D
I like the green stone better, but I am very partial to green so don't listen to me. :giggle: The wideness of the face looks better on this one though, it looks more solid and dangerous.

That's a good point & you're right; this one does somehow look more masculine than the green-stone skull. :-)
