Fantasy Owl Leather Mask by merimask Fantasy Owl Leather Mask by merimask
I'm really excited about this mask. I've been wanting to update my old, tired version of a horned owl, but I didn't want to do the same old thing with it.

This design is based on a horned owl, but the ear tufts are exaggerated and more dramatic, and I added extra details in sharp metallic tones for a more fantastic approach. Very fun!

Like all my masks, this one is carved and shaped entirely by hand with no molds or forms from one piece of 8oz leather. It's painted with colorfast Liquitex acrylics in black and white with copper, gold, bronze and pewter details. Signed dated and numbered, this is "Fantasy Owl #2", available only at my online shop: [link]

*sigh* I've commented before, but I'll comment again. I just love this one. I still have it hanging out in my inbox so I will see it often. I'm so bummed because it would be a PERFECT accessory for a costume I am working on for a contest. The only problem is, I'm supposed to make everything myself, so I can't use it in the contest. :( I'm really hoping to attend a masquerade ball next Halloween and I would be wearing the gown again then, so maybe I'll just budget for it and order it then.

Oh, this one is gorgeous. I love the bold white on it, it really makes it stand out!
The ear tufts look a little flat next to the textured face, it might just be the angle of the shot though.

It did turn out beautiful! :-) It looks like it is from a fantasy book, but keeps the realistic feeling as well ^^. And I love the metallic details :D
