Green Copper Small Dragon Mask by merimask Green Copper Small Dragon Mask by merimask
Another little dragon mask that I finished last night. Green, bright copper and gold. I've decided I like furry dragons. I used to draw them spiky and more alligator-like. But, it's a fantasy animal so fur with scales is perfectly acceptable, imo.

As ever, carved free-hand directly onto the leather, tooled, wet formed and heat hardened. Painted with Liquitex acrylics.

This little guy is available right now at my Etsy shop. [link]

Lovely, with the fur he's more of a Chinese cloud dragon than a western scaly beastie!

Thank you! Yes I think so too. I like Eastern Dragons so it's not surprising that mine look sort of like them...a little of both really.

Thank you. I mix the colors each time, so it always comes out a little different. :-)

Always loved this design and your detail is amazing! Very cool! If you don't mind what type finish did you use? Sometimes if it's too shiney it looks like plastic and if to matte looks like rubber. Yours looks great!

Thanks! :-)

I use a spray sealer...it has a nice finish if you do it lightly. Kelly's professional grade Instant Shine.

I only use the spray on the face of the mask...the edges & backs are sealed with Tandy's Eco-flo Super Sheen, applied with a sponge. I don't like to sponge on the Super Sheen over the face of the mask though because it leaves streaks.

Love the dragons! They're so detailed, makes you wish they'd just pop off the mask and hang out. :)
