So, I was contacted by the Martha Stewart show, and they might want me to do a demonstration of my mask-making technique on the show...right? If you're curious, check out my latest DA journal entry.
They wanted a couple samples of my work. One choice was obvious (the mask I'll be demonstrating for the show...pics of that coming soon), but what to do for the second mask?
Dragons are SO not Martha Stewart's style. Anything really exotic like my Persian motif masks...maybe not right for the yuppie "country livin'" image she is associated with. So hmm.
And then I got smart & went online & played with The Google a bit. Turns out Martha loves animals, and the animals she loves the most are her blue point himalayan cats!
So after learning that, my choice was easy. Does this make me a dirty whore? I suspect it does.
Like all my masks, this one is hand carved & shaped from one piece of 8oz leather. Painted with Liquitex acrylics.
I'll probably be offering this design in my Etsy shop eventually. [link]
My friends is ordering this mask from you for his wedding and oddly enough i will be wearing this mask It is beautiful and I have the honor of wearing your beautiful work
I saw that show yesterday. Not on tv, but on the Internet. I was like OMG ANDREA IS IN THAT SHOW! It's so nice they invited you! She seemed to be really happy with this mask. When you showed how to shape a mask, it looks so easy. But I think it isn't so easy as it looks like. Anyway, great job, as always!
But it was cool! You seemed so relaxed there. Like this isn't even a challenge, but something I'm doing the whole day xD You looked like that. Pretty impressive!

... and it doesn't make you a dirty whore, just a savvy businesswoman.
Anyway, this mask is so gorgeous. I'm glad you were inspired to try something you mightn't otherwise!
Yes, I agree; it's not a mask I might have done on my own without a catalyst. Sometimes inspiration comes from strange circumstances.
