I don't usually do intentional mask pairs, but for these two I just felt like it. I have these wonderful old blackened steel gears from some broken clocks, and the black-against-gold looked so pretty I made a pair to match.

Anubis is the ancient Egyptian god of the underworld/afterlife, while Bast is all about fertility, dance, and music. They seem like an odd couple but I like to think that opposites attract. :) These industrialized Egyptian gods are kind of my updated take on the theme; the gears are all still "circles", to my mind evocative of the Ra sun disc seen displayed on most of ancient Egypt's gods. Also, there's something thematically correct about vintage clock parts paired with ancient gods of a lost religion...both are not really functional and yet, still beautiful. They can be appreciated for their aesthetics instead of their utility.

Made entirely by me, entirely by hand. Leather, clock bits, brass hardware, acrylic paint and love.

Although they could be a nice pair, I am offering them separately in my online Etsy shop.

Interesting description. Gold and black are always effective together, quite an elegant look as well.

nice, I thought for a moment it was like, a male and female Anubis theme, but the smaller one I realized was to kitty shaped :3 beautiful job though :D

The beaded (collars? mantles? Not sure what to call them) are a great touch. Nice work!
