Interference Blue Green Fighting Fish Mask by merimask Interference Blue Green Fighting Fish Mask by merimask
More "fun with spectrum-shifting acrylics". I wanted to see how they looked on a black base. The answer is, they needed some augmenting with Duochrome, because they're basically transparent paints that reflect one color (blue on the bodies, green on the fins). So I added green/gold Duochrome to the tips of the fins and aqua/blue to the centers of the bodies, and it gave the whole mask more dimension. It almost glows. Can't wait to try Medusa in these colors.

Made entirely by me, entirely by hand. Hand-carved leather, acrylic paint, and love.

Even though it is still bright, it has a darker feel to them than other masks you've done.

Lovely work. Fascinating the way you've compensated for proportions by manipulating the fin sizes. Bravo! It reminds me of two fish circling one another, as in the pisces symbol :)

I absolutely love the colors on this mask! I would happily purchase one from you if only I knew of parties and such that would require such a fantastic mask.

You could probably do something similar with dragonflies... there's a design that'd be fun with those spectrum-shift acrylics! I've been loving this stuff so far. Parrots or faerie foxes would be fun too!

Which eye has the fish "over" it? On your etsy page, the mask looks reversed on the model wearing it...

"The fifth picture is an example of this mask design being worn. It is not an image of the mask that is for sale, but only a demonstration of size and fit. The first four pictures are the actual mask that you will receive."

So, the first four pictures shows how it looks like. Hence there might be differences between the mask for sale and the mask on the fifth picture, I concluded.

Thank you, yes, sometimes I flip my pattern to preserve the life of the pattern. So the mask is different each time...not just the colors but sometimes the fish are juxtaposed. :) It doesn't really affect the way it looks when you wear it.

Beautiful blues and greens. I had a betta fish as a child that had almost the exact colours. Very elegant. :)
