Just an updated version of my beloved Japanese Goldfish mask. The design was inspired by a wall mural in Narita Airport...if you've ever flown into Narita you'll know the one I'm talking about.
As ever, this is made from hand-carved, hand-shaped 8oz tooling leather and painted with Liquitex acrylics. Signed, dated original, available only at my online Etsy site: [link]
Your goldfish masks are so elegantly simple and I just can't seem to look away, and I'm just waiting for an excuse to finally wear mine! Beautiful design.
I am trying to remember the mural you are talking about in Narita! I have been living in Japan for the past 3 years and fly back state side at least once a year and can't remember what you are talking about!!
There's just something so beautiful and elegant about this blue and gold color combination! (or is that the blueish black I love so much?) Either way, simply gorgeous, m'dear!
It's beautiful. However, the solid colored fish looks very a-typical for you. Usually you add shadings, other colors or highlights to the characters on your masks, so it seems a bit plain. But maybe that's exactly the effect you were going for.
