I thought it was time for something more recent to go into my gallery, so, this mask was finished JUST this morning.
I have been talking about doing a Persian Dragon mask for EVER. Every time I started it, something would come up (a commission, or I'd run out of leather) & I'd have to forget about it. Last time, I had the dragon all cut out & then I heard from Circus Juventas, who needed a red dragon for the stage...so that's what happened to my LAST Persian Dragon attempt.
So I just said the heck with it & cut this guy out & worked all night on him, so nothing else could stop me.
In the end I decided to call it a "Jeweled Dragon" because of the sparkly cat's eye cabochon I inlaid in the head.
Carved from one piece of 8oz leather, painted with liquitex acrylic paints.
This is "Jeweled Dragon #1" and is available for a short time RIGHT NOW at my online Etsy Shop: [link]
Everything but the stone is carved in leather...I LOVE the Liquitex metallic paints. If you apply them correctly, they're fine-grained enough to look like real metal.
I really like the little gold looking studs here and there. Love it!
