I've been thinking about my dog today. My friend lost her 15 year old corgi last night, and it reminded me how temporary our pets are; their little lives are too brief.
Kiba is seven years old...still in his prime (perhaps just past it), and my constant companion. A nice thing about being a self-employed artist is that I get to work from home, but that would be unbearably lonely if it weren't for Kiba.
He makes me put down my work and take him for some dogfun almost every day (actually grumbles and tells me off if I don't), so he helps me to keep things in perspective and not get too wrapped up in my work. He's also is a pretty boy, and serves as my living muse whenever I do any canine masks. This is perhaps why I do so many wolf/fox masks! I'm told my canine masks are the best around and I credit Kiba.
Anyway, here he is on a happy day; winter is a Siberian Husky's favorite season. In fact, I think we'll head out on a nice wooded trail right now! There are rabbits to be terrorized and deer to be woofed at. Life is short, and we have to love our furry family members while we can.
I love the picture and especially your comment. Thanks for reminding us that our dogs are always at our side and waiting for us to put down our brushes and to pick up the leash. :]
Huskies are definitely one of my favourite breeds - Kiba's a good looking dog It's a shame that some relationships have to come to an end sooner than we'd like but, if nothing else, knowing that fact should encourage us to enjoy the sweet moments we share all the more. Losing a pet is never easy, but I couldn't imagine not having the memories of the dogs I grew up with - I just wish everyone could be so content living in the 'now' as Kiba seems to be
I'm not much of a dog person myself- cats are my favourite, but I can really see how an animal that makes you step outside would be of great benefit if you work from home.
They provide TRUE unconditional love!
