This is the MOST ambitious sculpture I've ever created. Not a mask, but actual art for your wall! This piece is created entirely out of leather.

Over 300 separate hand carved, hand painted leather carvings are combined on this one wall plaque.

It was inspired largely by Hokusai's famous "Wave" woodcut (part of his "36 Views Of Mt Fuji" series). Also, it sprang from my love of Asian dragons.

I called it "Natsu No Nami" because in Japanese kimono art, waves are often the subject of choice for summer kimonos.

Many of these pieces are available for sale on my Etsy site; [link]

Before I make my first comment on your page, let me say hello. Some unknown user from another Deviant I was watching posted a link to your gallery and I went and checked you out. SO glad I did. I'll be sticking around ~ ^^

This piece is completely amazing. I was completely shocked when I read that it's all leather. It doesn't look like it! Honestly, I thought it was ceramic or something along those lines. AMAZING eye for detail here. This and the Cherry Blossom dragon are my favorite. I'm also a huge fan of Asian-inspired things and dragons!

Well thank you. :-) I am looking at this piece right now...it hangs in my office. Of all the works I've done, this is the only one I'll never part with because it's the only one I'd never be able to make twice.

It's not for sale, but it'd be over $2,000 if it were. Many, many hours of work...

Wow, this is simply stunning! The amount of effort you put into this is amazing, and those waves almost look as if they're leaping out of the page =D :+favlove:

Hokusai's famous "Wave" woodcut is one of my favorite artworks. I also enjoy the many dragon myths. I am stunned by your vision of "Wave" plus dragon and that it was rendered in leather, of all mediums! Stunning!
