Rat Queen Leather Maskby *merimask

I know this isn't the prettiest mask I've ever made...but then again she's not supposed to be pretty. This is a Rat Queen mask for a production of the Nutcracker ballet in Jacksonville FL this season.

They had a simple furry mask before, that looked sort of like a cat, & wanted something more "ratlike" My vision was a realistic huge Norway rat with "jewelry". They already have a full crown for her, so I did a head decoration that wouldn't interfere with that, plus I added Swarovski crystals to her ears & forehead to add sparkle and fun when brightly lit onstage.

She's basically a rat with bling. I really hope she's a big hit!

I tell you, rats ARE pretty and cute, I mean pet rats

. When I saw this I guessed it might be from the Nutcracker, the rat in that one is not as "cute" though. Your masks are fantastic!
