Red Fox Fennec Maskby *merimask

Sometimes, my customers have the best ideas.

This was a special request for a fennec mask, with red fox colors. The red is actually a bit lighter IRL, but I just couldn't quite capture it in a picture. It's super-cute!

Fennec foxes have those adorable huge ears and tiny faces, but they are desert foxes so they are sand colored. Red foxes have the most lovely orange-red tones in their fur, plus the stark black "points" that are so distinctive. This mask has the best of both!

As ever, hand carved *each hair is cut into the leather by hand with a swivel blade), hand shaped 8oz vegetable-tanned tooling leather. Painted with Liquitex acrylics.

Oh I just love the masks you make!! Ever thought about what kind of fox you would be if you were a fox instead of human? I know I have. I think I would be either a fennec fox or an arctic fox

This is unbelievably adorable! You really captured the charm of the fennec face and the coloring you chose to go with is a great match. Great black detailing on the ears, eyes and nose.

Beautiful work! I have actually stumbled upon your Etsy shop before. I have never seen your DA. It's a bit fun to see it from this side, and I'm sure it's just as nice to know you don't need DA for random passerby's to come across your masks!

Have you ever considered tweaking the colors in Photoshop so the color matches more closely to how it looks IRL? (Adjustments > Selective color)? That's what I usually use when the colors in my photos don't come out just right.
