Another beach painting...did this one in New England though. That's a real place...Horseneck Beach in MA, if you want to know.

Another fairy too. I'm not comfortable doing portraits so I add giant wings to my girls and presto: fairy art. That's actually based on a photo of myself at 17. I had neither wings nor pointy ears, but I often thought it did. ;-)

This is one of the few watercolors I "cheated" on...added acrylic paints to get the textured lighter colored grasses atop the darker dune grass. I usually get my lighter effects in my watercolor paintings with masking medium and a careful working-around my white space, but this needed more. So, in my book I call it "cheating".

I bet you could make an amazing set of leather wings if they haven't grown in ;) The background is really lovely too! The soft clouds blended with the trees and the dune really set it apart.

Thank you. :-) I got a lot of practice painting beachscapes as a child in Rhode Island...it's fun to put it to good use. ;-)

awe beach combing, I love finding stones. Kinda a beach hound from when I lived by Lake Superior. I enjoyed it a lot and is something I miss doing. I have a bunch of stones I keep for things, some of them are natural beads I incorporate into dreamcatchers from time to time. The fae picture just feels very natural to me, which is probably why I like it so much!

It's not cheating, it's mixed media ^^ A really beautiful, serene painting.

True. :-) I always feel like I'm admitting defeat when I can't portray my mental image with just one medium...it's a pet peeve.

Thanks...I tried to put her in a setting that was realistic enough to make her seem realistic too... :-)

I think the official term for that technique is called "mixed media". ;) The grass did come out with a really nice look to it, so it worked, regardless.

Have your wings and pointed ears grown in yet? :D

True! It was SUCH a tiny bit of acrylic though, it hardly counts. ;-)

Thanks. :-) I love watercolors because you can get broad suggestions of grand things like sky and water, etc...but also the fine details like hair & grass.
