Small Dragon Half Mask

This isn't a spectacular mask but it's one I make frequently because people like them and because I never get bored making them.

I don't use a pattern. I usually save patterns on plastic transfer film, so that I can re-make the same mask because really, a fox is a fox is a fox for me (or a wolf, or a cat, etc...) and I like my work to be consistent. But these are just sketched on with a stylus each time, so no two are alike. I've probably made hundreds & each one is as different as a snowflake.

That's what keeps it fun.

Carved with my trusty ceramic 1/4 angle swivel blade (I just got a fresh blade so it was like carving butter), tooled with a small mule foot stamp, to create scales. I also use a smooth bevel tool, to add the 3-d effect & give more depth to the carving. wet formed by hand, heat dried & painted with Liquitex acrylics.
