Snarling Wolf Mask..Dark Phase by merimask Snarling Wolf Mask..Dark Phase by merimask
I was commissioned a few weeks ago to make a snarling wolf mask. I don't often make my wolves snarling, for some reason. But I figured why not, and came up with a design.

Someone saw it, liked it, & before I knew it I had a new commission for another pissed off wolf with the same design but in dark timber wolf colors. So here it is.

Like all my masks, this is hand carved (each hair meticulously cut into the leather with a 1/4 angle ceramic blade), hand shaped, & hand painted. I used Liquitex acrylics, & drybrushed the colors in layers to accent the carved fur.

Custom orders gladly accepted at my Etsy shop: [link]

PS...Check out my group, Leather Mask Art :iconleathermaskart: to see the light-phase version of this mask.

wow the Fur detail is STUNNING . who long do you think it takes you per piece with this much fur detail in it? Your work is amazing.:winner: The colors you use and the Techniques you put in to then are so cool. :worship: Do you do Tutorials or classes? I would love to be able to do leather work like this. Do you custom fit masks to blank face forms or to actual customers faces? :D Keep up the STUNNING work. your Wolf Masks I think are my faves... And you Dragons.

True. I didn't want to be too over the top with it so it's just a little snarl, really.

Sadly enough, it's the snarly ones that are the most popular. Then again, I don't think it is so unfortunate as it is...ironic. Of course, I would actually wear one in broad daylight. There's a certain respect commanded by an angry wolf face.

Angry wolf is still beautiful... though I find myself with less of a desire to pet this particular wolf. ;P

I can't say he's pulling any crankier a face than I put on myself, sometimes. And it's probably scarier on a woman than on a wolf, hehe.

No more icky wet snow! Sun! Flowers! Bicycles! Kayaks! Cheesecake! Nownownow!

That is one wicked wolf! (And would be perfect for the cliched "big, bad...")

:: chuckles :: I've got some chums who'd take that a certain way and take off in pursuit of the wolf...
