Here's a new mask...a new version of my Sekmeht design.
I usually paint her bright gold with bright blue, to simulate gilded and lapis inlay. The Sekmeht I saw in the King Tut exhibit when I was a kid looked just like that.
However, a client from my Etsy shop
[link] requested a more realistically-colored lioness, so I did this & I have to say, I like it better than the gold version!
Sekmeht is the Egyptian goddess of war and chaos. I think it's cool that the Egyptians were okay with a powerful god like that being female...says a lot about their culture in my opinion.
Like all my masks, this is hand carved, hand shaped leather. Painted with Liquitex acrylics.
