Teal Frost Dragon by merimask Teal Frost Dragon by merimask
The Frost Dragon intimidates the heck out of me, every time. It is simultaneously my favorite mask to make and something I dread. When it's all cut out and carved and flat, I always have this moment of "oh no...here's where I screw it up and get everything wrong", because shaping for this mask is intense. But then I suck it up and just do it. I get really happy because once again I see it all coming together and it's a huge rush.

As ever, this is made of hand-carved, hand-shaped 8oz tooling leather, no molds or forms used. The brow and nose frills are separate pieces, fixed with "Goop" brand industrial epoxy. Painted with Liquitex Acrylics.

This mask is available as a custom order from my online shop: [link]

I LOVE how you twirled the leather around into horns. That is so cool. :+fav:

Question: how long does it take you to finish a leather mask? I've started some with layers of paper mache, and it's nice, but I love the textures you achieve. How do you get the scales down like that? And with no mold?

Sorry, I know I'm prolly asking trade secrets XD If nothing else, how long does it take you from start to finish? Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL work!

Really nice. The colours are great, and the sculpting is done really nice. I always love your dragon masks, you make them with so much feeling! Or it at least looks like you do that ;)

Keep up the good work!

I'm feeling cold just looking at it! Or it could just be that I need to turn up the thermostat a bit.
