Thoth was considered one of the more important deities of the Egyptian pantheon. He was often depicted as a man with the head of an ibis or a baboon; these animals were sacred to him.
I've received dozens of requests to make a Thoth mask over the years, and I've finally done one. I chose to do the traditional depiction of an Ibis-headed god with a baboon-like black mane. I added the sun disc (also traditional) for an extra point of interest, as the mask was pretty stark. It's still a very basic design, in keeping with all my Egyptian god masks. I like to keep them smooth and with very clean lines.
Like all my masks, this is made from one piece of 8oz hand carved leather. Shaped with no molds or forms, hand painted with Liquitex acrylics.
