White Tiger Mask by merimask White Tiger Mask by merimask
I finally finished it! By popular demand; a White Tiger mask.

As ever, this is hand carved & shaped without molds or forms out of 8oz leather (each is a one-of-a-kind sculpture). Then, the mask is hardened with heat & painted with colorfast Liquitex acrylics. I did several layers of gray paint with white drybrushed atop that, for texture. The black stripes were the fun part (& his cute pink nose).

This is a signed, dated, numbered original: White TIger #2. Available right now in my Etsy shop. [link]

I absolutely love the classic tiger mask, the orange one.
This white one, though, looks purpleish to me. :O Is it just me or is it painted with a bit of purple?

I have a question, is there any way possible that you could do another tiger mask: a lot like this one yet with the base color being black and the stripes being silver???? if you could please, and when I have money I would so buy it from you what ever the cost when I have the money. You are an awsome artist and would just love it if you could or would.

Hope to hear back from you.

Very lovely, expecially the fur texture. When I first saw it on your FB post the fur detailing wasn't visible - I like it either way though.

Oh have you ever seen a Golden Tabby? It is a tiger with brown stripes instead of black and a more yellowish coloration under that - almost like a ginger cat. One of those would be awesome as a mask! Look it up on wikipedia if you have a chance.

Yes! I've also seen something called a "cinnamon" white tiger...very pretty color variations.

I don't understand how you manage to part with this mask! If I'd been the artist I'd keep it for myself =p

Yes, that's some selfish ideology, and you can't live on that ideology either I presume! You could always make another mask!

Great work as usual. 'Wish I could say something else, but I'm outta words.. If there's something I want to tell you about the white tiger mask and all the other masks of yours, is how I love the use of "hard-lines" in combination with the smooth fur-carved textures, the brain of mine loves lines defining boundaries and shapes & I guess it's so for most people.

BTW: Great photo, it's not obviously to take good pictures expressing all the details of your work!

Thank you. :-) Oddly I'm especially glad that you like the photography! I'm confident about my ability to make masks, but I'm totally winging it with the photography. Been learning as I go and I am getting better, so it's nice to hear that you like it. :-)

I like how the line stripes guide your eyes to the center of the mask. The colours compliment each other nicely:)

Oh, this is really beautiful! I love the roundness of the face, perfectly captured.
There seems to be a little less fur detail than usual, which make it look a little more cartoony, I love it! :D

Ooooh, I like this - I love the pattern of the stripes. It must have been pretty tough to get them right. Are they symmetrical?

Yes, actually I went a bit overboard on the carving but it worked out. I was going to keep this design simple but then, I did the little hairs on the nose. And then, I had to balance that out with more hair...it sorta snowballed.

But sometimes snowballing it is better and improves it in the end. Though not always the case...it certainly worked in this one!
