A special request has led to this really pretty little wolf mask.
It's the same wolf design that I use for my super-popular black and silver wolf. I just painted it all white. Then I painted some light gray at the edges of the fur, because the gray makes a good base for silver. Silver on white just makes a sort of pearly white. So I added the silver over the gray to get a solid rich metallic silver, but feathered it into the white to get the pearly effect, and I ended up with a really interesting gradient. Then (new trick) I hand-painted in the black antiquing on the carved furry edges instead of slopping it all over the whole mask. It gives me targeted areas of black which really look striking, instead of streaking up all that nice clean white area.
Of course this is a ton of extra work! If I end up getting requests for this color version, I'm going to have to charge more for it. But it does look pretty...eh?
The mask, like all my work, is made from one piece of top-quality 8 oz leather, hand carved and shaped with no molds or forms. It is painted with colorfast Liquitex acrylics.
